Tinafas

Composition

Each film-coated tablet contains:
Tinidazole BP ....................... 500 mg

 

Dosage and administration

Tinidazole is usually administered as a single daily dose orally with or after food.
Invasive amoebiasis – Tinidazole in a dose of 2 g daily orally for 2-3 days Hepatic amoebiasis
Adults: 1.5 – 2 g daily for 3 days or occasionally upto 6 days
Children: 50-60 mg/kg daily for 3-5 days
Giardiasis, Trichomoniasis, Acute ulcerative
gingivitis
Adults: Single dose of tinidazole 2 g oral
Children: 50-75 mg/kg as a single dose
In Trichomoniasis sexual partners should be treated concomitantly Anaerobic bacterial infections – Initial dose of 2g orally followed on subsequent days by 1g daily or 500 mg twice daily for 5-6 days. Peptic ulcer disease – Tinidazole 500 mg twice daily in combination with clarithromycin and omeprazole for 7 days.

Indications

Protozoal infections such as Amoebiasis,Balantidiasis, Blastocystis hominis infections, Giardiasis and Trichomoniasis Treatment and prophylaxis of anaerobic bacterial infections like bacterial vaginosis. Acute necrotising ulcerative Gingivitis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, Tetanus and Antibiotic associated colitis. Eradication of Helicobacter pylori in peptic ulcer disease [in combination with other antimicrobials, and either bisuth compounds or proton pump inhibitors] Management of malodorous tumours and ulcers where there is anaerobic infection Treatment of rosacea and of dracunculiasis (guinea worm infection) Treatment of perianal Crohn’s disease
